Broken boiler
Boiler playing up? Start with what it's actually doing
No heating, no hot water, losing pressure, error codes, odd noises — tell us the symptoms and send a photo. Sometimes it's a simple repair; sometimes, on an older boiler, replacement is the honest answer. We won't push either until we've seen what's wrong.
Before you enquire
Two things are worth checking first, and they're free: if the pressure gauge is below 1 bar, the boiler may just need topping up — our pressure guide walks through it. And if there's an error code on the display, note it down or photograph it — the error code guide explains the common ones. If you smell gas, don't use this site: call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999 immediately.
What happens next
You never explain it twice
You answer a few quick questions, then tell us the symptoms and send a photo of the boiler and the error display, roughly how old it is. Our plumber sees all of that as one organised summary — so when they get in touch or visit, they already know what they're walking into.
